Project Title

Smart Traffic Management System

Description

Traffic congestion is one of the daunting problems of people living in Karachi. A huge part of commuting time is wasted while waiting in queues. My final year project aims to reduce average waiting time at a signal, saving natural resources and monetary value involved with it. For that, I proposed changing the traffic timer by simulating the traffic scene. The underlying mathematical model then determines the traffic flow rate, adjusts the traffic timer on the intersection accordingly and decides which signal to turn green first. The simulation mimics the real traffic scene and depicts the impact of changing the traffic signal timer logic. This can be achieved through video-processing technique integrated with timer logic.
